9-10 years to ~14 years
9.0 ins (23.0 cm) long x 12.0 ins (30.5 cm) in wrap around girth x 3.0 mm thick
The child should have about 11.5 ins (29 cm) of length from the beginning of the underarm to the wrist. To ensure a secure fit and performance, we recommend 0.5 ins (1.25 cm) as the minimum amount of overlap on the wrap-around portion.
The L-Adolescent size is designed for children in the later stages of elementary school to those in the earlier teen years. As noted 1-2 ins (5 cm) of space beyond the brace above and below the elbow is recommended for this size. The child having nearly full passive range of motion is helpful in determining its effectiveness in rehab and behavioural situations as opposed to a contracture management tool.
In situations where the user can manage the length of the brace with sufficient space beyond the brace above and below the elbow, but the wrap-around girth has too much material, the L sized brace can be cut-down to mimic the wrap-around of the M brace. Locate the gap between the hook & loop patches about 2 ins (5 cm) up from the bottom of the brace and trim across with fabric scissors being careful not to damage the stitching securing the remaining hook & loop patches.
