CDS braces showcased at BLRS Annual Meeting

Brace Orthopaedic has showcased its Controlled Dynamic Stretch contracture braces at the prestigious British Limb Reconstruction Society Annual Meeting held today (17 March) in Liverpool.

Clive Mitchell, Managing Director of Brace Orthopaedic, was invited to speak at the event and demonstrate the highly innovative CDS braces to the surgeons and allied professionals in attendance. He highlighted the new features developed by their German manufacturer, Albrecht GMBH, and how they can benefit individuals with upper and lower limb contractures.

“It was a pleasure to be invited to present our CDS braces at the British Limb Reconstruction Society Annual Meeting,” commented Clive. “It was a informative annual meeting and I presented to a very receptive audience of professionals. This year’s three-day British Limb Reconstruction Society Annual Meeting was held in conjunction with BAPRAS (British Association of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons) at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool.

New CDS Wrist brace available now

As a part of the new generation of CDS (Controlled Dynamic Stretch) contracture correction braces, Brace Orthopaedic is delighted to announce the arrival of a completely new product – CDS Wrist.

CDS Wrist is an extension brace available in a range of sizes for either the left or right hand. It has all of the advantages of the new generation CDS design and in addition, offers significant features that provide considerable adjustment for the clinician in respect of the individual course of treatment for the patient.

The extension brace has the new smaller and simplified hinge and the shells are lightweight and made of malleable, air permeable aluminium. CDS Wrist has a 3600 hinge which allows the clinician to set the starting point of the correction range as appropriate to the patient. The finger plate can also be adjusted in 150 steps for optimal positioning. Furthermore, the thumb plate can be removed if not required and the length of the palm plate can also be adjusted in length to fit.

The traditional functionality of the CDS range of products has been maintained and so an exact level of force can be set through the brace and engaged with a simple on/off switch. Whilst, as before the range of correction can be fine-tuned by as little as 10 at a time, depending on the patient goals.

CDS Wrist is a unique and highly innovative product, which is indicated for contractures after surgery, joint replacement, strokes, burns and joint replacements.

Brace Orthopaedic is pleased to announce availability of the new enhanced CDS (Controlled Dynamic Stretch) contracture correction orthoses, from its German manufacturing partner Albrecht.

The new generation of CDS splints have improved features that offer advantages for both the clinician and the patient, without compromising the established function of these highly effective braces. They also have a more modern look and feel which will enhance acceptance and compliance.

Notably, Albrecht have reduced the size of the hinge system by 50%, reducing bulk in a crucial area, which will benefit all patients but in particular the paediatric users.

The shell structure has also changed, from a rigid thermoplastic material, to a lightweight, malleable and air permeable aluminium. This will enable the clinician to shape the brace to the patient more precisely and easily than before. On the knee and ankle braces, the shells have also been separated to allow for more accurate adjustment and an individual fit.

Finally, the strap system comes in a new colour scheme and like the shell system, it presents a far more modern appearance to enhance patient compliance.

New generation of CDS contracture braces revealed

The highly innovative manufacturer Albrecht has demonstrated its new generation of CDS (Controlled Dynamic Stretch) contracture braces.

 The CDS range of braces is already firmly established as a treatment option by many clinicians in the UK, treating both adult and paediatric patients with orthopaedic or neurological contractures.

This new generation of CDS braces is a major advance, with a number of significant enhancements, highlighted by the new, smaller and simpler hinge mechanism. Albrecht has also improved the design of the braces, introducing more malleable materials to allow for a better and more comfortable patient fit, presented here by Martin Khales, Head of the Research and Development team at Albrecht (pictured below). New Albrecht CDS braces

The launch of the new generation of CDS braces was announced at Albrecht’s annual International Distributors Meeting held in Germany last week.
