Brace Orthopaedic has partnered with the Ledbrook Orthotic & Prosthetic Clinic in Solihull to establish the first private assessment and fitting clinic in the UK for Step-On AFOs.
Step-On is a unique range of dynamic AFOs (Ankle Foot Orthoses) for the treatment of drop-foot. The Ledbrook Clinic has been providing high quality care for patients with drop foot for many years and their condition is often the result of suffering a stroke, spinal nerve damage and damage to the peroneal nerve.
Step-On AFOs have a unique articulated design, offering adjustable dorsiflexion assistance. This mechanism facilitates essential functional movements during the gait cycle, while at the same time providing the precise amount of control required by each patient in relation to their condition, or at every stage of their rehabilitation.
The Step-On AFOs are also extremely lightweight and made from a highly versatile polypropylene that can be heated, easily moulded to shape and trimmed to fit the patient.
“I’m very impressed with Step-On,” said John Young, Consultant Orthotist at The Ledbrook Clinic. “It’s a highly versatile AFO, and I’m pleased to add it to our wide range of solutions for patients with drop foot. Step-On’s adjustable hinge means that the AFO is ‘ready to wear’ and therefore the patient only needs one visit to the Clinic as opposed to being measured and then requiring a further visit for fitting.”
Clive Mitchell, Managing Director of Brace Orthopaedic added: “I’m delighted to be working with the Ledbrook Orthotic & Prosthetic Clinic, providing a comprehensive assessment and fitting service for the Step-On family of AFO products in the West Midlands.
“The clinic has an exceptionally experienced team of practitioners who share the same values as Brace Orthopaedic in regards to the delivery of high levels of clinical care and customer service.”
The Ledbrook Clinic is a full-service private clinic specialising in orthotics and prosthetics, based near Solihull, with clinics also in London and Leeds. The Ledbrook Clinic’s consulting and treatment rooms are new and purpose-built, offering rehabilitation facilities including access to a fully-equipped Clinical Measurements Laboratory (Gait Lab). The clinic is open seven days a week, and offers early morning and late evening appointments.
